xSub offers data in four formats, including two types of data sources (individual and multiple) and two data structures (spatial panel data and raw events).
- Individual sources: data are drawn from one of the 20+ data providers listed on the sources page
- Multiple sources: data are integrated across all 20+ data providers, using the MELTT (Matching Event Data by Location, Time, and Type) software package developed by
Donnay, et al. (2018)
- Spatial panel data: data are event counts, aggregated to discrete spatial and temporal units (e.g. country-year, district-week, etc. with covariates on local demographics, geography, ethnicity, weather)
- Raw events: data are individual events, with information on geographic coordinates, dates, actors, actions and targets, organized according to xSub's standard
